If you are searching for luxury tours in Dubai, you have probably noticed that the word “luxury” means different things to different companies. For most travellers it comes down to comfort, good timing, easy logistics and memorable settings, not just a high price. This guide explains how to plan a premium Dubai trip, from red dunes at sunset to a dhow evening on the water, and how to pick the experience that suits you.

What Luxury Tours in Dubai Really Mean

A premium tour is mostly about removing friction from your day. When you compare options, look for the following:

  • Door-to-door convenience: hotel pickup and drop-off, so you are not arranging taxis or parking.
  • A well-paced schedule: enough time at each stop without feeling rushed.
  • Clear information: inclusions, timings and cancellation terms stated before you pay.
  • Helpful support: someone you can message in your own language if plans change.
  • A memorable setting: dunes, skyline, open water or a major celebration.

Luxe Dunes offers hotel pickup and drop-off from all locations in Dubai, and our team provides multilingual support. These are the kind of practical details that make a day out feel easy.

Desert Safari: Red Dunes, Camel Ride and BBQ Dinner Under the Stars

The desert safari is the classic Dubai experience, and it works well as a premium evening because everything is organised for you. Our safari lasts about 6 hours. Pickup is usually between 2:30 and 3:30 PM, and you are back at your hotel at around 9:30 PM.

What a typical safari includes

  • Red dunes, with dune bashing across the sand
  • A camel ride
  • Sandboarding
  • A BBQ dinner
  • Live shows in the evening

The late-afternoon start is deliberate. You see the dunes in softer light, the heat is easier to handle, and you finish with dinner after dark.

Good to know before you go

  • Quad bike (ATV) riding is not part of the standard safari. It can be added for an extra cost, and you should request it in advance when booking.
  • Alcohol is not served during Ramadan or on government-specified days.
  • The safari is not recommended for pregnant women, as dune bashing is bumpy.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bring a light scarf or sunglasses for blowing sand, wear comfortable clothes, and carry a small layer for cooler desert air after sunset.

Cruises: Dhow Evenings and Musandam Sea Days

If the desert is Dubai’s wild side, the water is its relaxed one. There are two main cruise styles to consider.

Dhow evenings

A dhow is a traditional wooden boat. An evening cruise lets you see the city lit up from the water, which is a very different view from the street. It suits couples, families and first-time visitors who want something calm after a busy day of sightseeing.

Musandam sea days

Musandam is a rugged coastal area of Oman, known for dramatic cliffs and deep blue inlets. A Musandam cruise is a full change of scenery and a good option if you have a few days in Dubai and want a break from the city. Because it involves crossing into Oman, keep your passport with you and check your visa requirements before travelling.

For either cruise, sun protection is the main thing to pack. A hat, sunscreen and a light jacket for the breeze on deck are all useful.

City and Abu Dhabi Tours With Hotel Pickup and Drop-off

A guided city tour is the simplest way to see Dubai’s highlights without managing routes and entry points yourself. Dubai mixes old and new, from the historic creek area in Deira to the modern skyline, so a guided day gives you context as well as photos.

Abu Dhabi makes an excellent day trip. The capital of the UAE is known for its grand mosque, waterfront and cultural landmarks. With hotel pickup and drop-off, you avoid the stress of driving between emirates and can simply enjoy the day.

A few tips for city days:

  • Dress modestly if you plan to visit a mosque. Shoulders and knees should be covered, and women are usually asked to cover their hair.
  • Wear comfortable shoes, as even short stops involve walking.
  • Carry water. Air-conditioned vehicles are cool, but outdoor stops can be hot for much of the year.

A Special Occasion Idea: New Year Fireworks at Marina JBR 2026

New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights in Dubai, and the waterfront at Marina and JBR is a popular place to celebrate. Roads and popular viewing areas can be crowded, so planning ahead makes a real difference.

If you want to ring in the new year here, take a look at our New Year fireworks experience at Marina JBR 2026, available from AED 889. Check the tour page for the full details of what is included before you book, and message us if you have questions about your group or hotel location.

Whatever you choose for the night, arrange your plans early. Hotels and popular venues fill up quickly around New Year.

How to Choose the Right Tour for Your Trip

Start with what you most want to remember from the trip, then match the tour to it.

  • Want adventure and a classic Dubai experience? Choose the desert safari.
  • Want a calm, scenic evening? A dhow cruise is a good fit.
  • Want a full day away from the city? Consider a Musandam cruise or an Abu Dhabi trip.
  • Want to see the main sights efficiently? Book a city tour on your first or second day.
  • Visiting at New Year? Look at the Marina JBR fireworks option and book early.

If you are travelling with children, remember that they must be with an adult on the desert safari. If someone in your group is pregnant, a cruise or city tour is likely a better choice than dune bashing.

For a first trip of three to five days, a sensible mix is one city day, one evening desert safari and one water-based experience, with free time in between. Avoid stacking long tours back to back, as the heat and early starts can be tiring.

A dhow cruise dinner in Dubai Marina is one of the easiest ways to see the city lit up at night without rushing from place to place. You sit back on a traditional-style wooden boat, glide past glowing towers and the JBR waterfront, and enjoy the evening at an easy pace. This guide explains what to expect, how it compares with other options, and how to plan your evening, including New Year’s Eve.

What is a dhow cruise dinner in Dubai Marina?

A dhow is a traditional wooden sailing vessel that was once used across the Arabian Gulf for fishing, trade and pearling. The dhows used for tourist cruises are modern boats built in that classic style, usually with an open upper deck and a covered lower deck.

A dhow cruise dinner in Dubai Marina combines a slow trip around the Marina waterfront with a meal on board. The pace is relaxed. There is no rush, and most of the time is spent sitting, eating, talking and watching the skyline pass.

Menus, cruise length and extras differ between operators and event nights. Always check the inclusions on the tour page before you book, so you know exactly what your evening covers.

What you can see from the water: Marina skyline, JBR and Ain Dubai

Dubai Marina is a man-made waterway lined with high-rise towers, and it looks its best after dark when the buildings light up and reflect on the water. From the boat you get a view that is hard to find from street level.

  • The Marina skyline: rows of glass towers, including some of the tallest residential buildings in the world, lit against the night sky.
  • JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence): the busy beachfront area with its restaurants, cafes and promenade, which looks lively from the water.
  • Ain Dubai: the giant observation wheel on Bluewaters Island is a well-known landmark in this part of the city and often visible from the waterfront.
  • Marina Walk and the yachts: the promenade and the moored boats add to the atmosphere along the canal.

Bring a phone or camera with good low-light settings. Night photos from a moving boat can come out blurry, so hold your device steady and take several shots.

Dhow cruise vs other ways to see Dubai Marina at night

There are several ways to enjoy the Marina in the evening. The right choice depends on what kind of night you want.

Dhow cruise

This is best if you want a sit-down, unhurried experience with a view. It suits couples, families and groups who like to eat and talk while the scenery moves past.

Walking the Marina Walk

Walking is free and flexible, and you can stop wherever you like. You see the towers from below, though, and you miss the open-water perspective.

Modern yachts and speedboats

These are faster and more energetic. They suit people who want a short, lively ride rather than a long relaxed evening.

Dinner at a waterfront restaurant

This is comfortable and easy, with views of the Marina from a fixed table. You will not get the movement and changing scenery of a boat.

If you want the feel of Dubai’s maritime past along with a good view, the dhow is a strong choice.

Best time to go and how to choose your evening

The cooler months, roughly November to March, are the most comfortable for sitting outdoors on the water. In the summer months it is hot and humid, even in the evening, so a covered or air-conditioned deck is more pleasant.

When choosing your evening, think about these points:

  • Weekends are busier. If you prefer a calmer atmosphere, a weekday evening may suit you better.
  • Sunset timing changes through the year. If you want to watch the lights come on, check the boarding time against sunset.
  • Special nights are popular. Public holidays and New Year’s Eve fill up early, so plan ahead.
  • Leave some buffer. Evening traffic around the Marina and Sheikh Zayed Road can be heavy, so allow extra travel time.

What to wear and what to bring

Dress is smart casual. You do not need formal wear, but you will probably want to look neat, especially if it is a special occasion.

  • Light, comfortable clothing for the warmer months.
  • A light jacket or shawl in winter, since it can feel breezy and cool on the open deck at night.
  • Flat, comfortable shoes that grip well, as boat decks can be uneven.
  • Phone or camera and a portable charger.
  • Your booking confirmation and a copy of your hotel details.
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen if your cruise starts before sunset.

If you are prone to motion sickness, the Marina is generally calm, but it is worth bringing your usual remedy just in case.

Tips for couples, families and groups

For couples

Ask for an upper-deck spot if one is available, since it gives the best views and a more private feel. Arrive a little early to have more choice of seating.

For families

Keep children close to you on deck and let them know the boat rules before you board. Bring something to keep younger children entertained during quiet moments, and a light layer for sleepy kids when the breeze picks up.

For groups

Book together so you can be seated together, and tell the operator how many people are in your party. For birthdays or celebrations, mention it in advance so the team can advise on what is possible.

Celebrating New Year’s Eve at Marina and JBR

The Marina and JBR area is one of the most popular places in Dubai to welcome the new year, thanks to its open waterfront and its skyline backdrop. Crowds are large, roads can be closed or congested, and finding a good viewing spot can be stressful if you leave it to the last minute.

That is why many visitors prefer to book a planned experience. Our New Year Fire Work at Marina JBR 2026 package starts from AED 889 per person. Please check the tour page for the current inclusions, timings and any conditions before you book.

A few practical tips for New Year’s Eve:

  1. Book early, as this is one of the busiest nights of the year.
  2. Plan your transport in advance and expect traffic around the Marina.
  3. Dress warmly enough for a cool evening by the water.
  4. Keep your phone charged and agree a meeting point if your group could get separated.

How to book and cancellation policy

Booking is simple. Choose your evening, check the details on the tour page, and send your booking request online or through WhatsApp. Our team supports guests in several languages, and we can help with questions about pickup and drop-off from locations in Dubai.

Our cancellation policy for tours other than the desert safari is a full refund if you cancel at least 3 days (72 hours) before the tour. If your plans might change, make sure you know this deadline when you book.

Ready to see Dubai Marina from the water? Take a look at the Marina JBR New Year experience or message us on WhatsApp at +971 50 747 3240. You can also email contact@luxedunestours.com, and we will help you choose the right evening for your trip.

If you are looking for things to do in Dubai in winter, you are planning at the right time. The heat of summer fades, evenings turn cool and breezy, and the outdoor side of the city comes alive: desert dunes, harbour cruises, long walks along the waterfront and day trips beyond the city. This guide covers the best winter experiences for first-time and returning visitors, with practical tips for each.

Why Winter Is a Popular Time to Visit Dubai

Winter, roughly from November to March, is widely considered the most comfortable season in Dubai. Days are warm rather than scorching, and evenings can feel pleasantly cool, which makes a big difference for activities like desert safaris, sightseeing on foot and cruising on open decks.

It is also a busy season, with many events, festive decorations and a lively atmosphere around New Year. A few tips will help you make the most of it:

  • Book early. Popular tours and hotels fill up, especially around the holidays.
  • Pack layers. Daytime clothing is fine for most of the day, but a light jacket is useful in the desert and on the water after sunset.
  • Plan one big activity per day. Dubai is spread out and traffic can be heavy, so a relaxed pace works better than a packed schedule.

Evening Desert Safari: Red Dunes, Camel Ride and BBQ Dinner

A desert safari is the classic Dubai experience, and winter evenings are ideal for it. Our evening safari lasts about 6 hours. Hotel pickup is usually between 2:30 and 3:30 PM, and you return to your hotel at about 9:30 PM.

The experience includes:

  • Dune bashing across the red dunes in a 4×4
  • A camel ride
  • Sandboarding
  • A BBQ dinner
  • Live shows at the camp

Good to know before you go

Quad biking is not part of the standard safari, but it can be added for an extra cost if you book in advance. Alcohol is not served during Ramadan or on government-specified days. The safari is not recommended for pregnant women, and children must be accompanied by an adult. If you need to cancel, you get a full refund when you cancel at least 24 hours before the safari.

Wear comfortable clothes and bring a light layer for after sunset. Closed shoes or sandals that stay on easily are fine, since you will be walking on sand.

Dhow Cruise at Dubai Marina or Dubai Creek

A dhow is a traditional wooden boat, and cruising on one is a relaxed way to see Dubai from the water. Two settings are popular:

  • Dubai Marina: a modern view of glass towers, yachts and the JBR waterfront.
  • Dubai Creek: a quieter, older part of the city, with historic districts and traditional trading boats.

Winter evenings are well suited to a sit-down cruise, because the breeze on the water is pleasant rather than hot. If photography matters to you, choose a cruise that runs after sunset, when the skyline lights up. Dhow cruises are a good option for families and for travellers who want something calm after a busy day.

Day Trip to Abu Dhabi: Grand Mosque and Louvre

Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, is an easy day trip from Dubai. The drive takes roughly one and a half to two hours each way, depending on traffic, so an early start is worthwhile.

Two highlights are the main reasons to go:

  • Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: one of the most striking buildings in the region, with white marble domes and vast courtyards. Visitors should dress modestly, with shoulders and knees covered. Women are usually asked to cover their hair inside.
  • Louvre Abu Dhabi: a museum known for its dramatic domed roof and its collection spanning cultures and eras. Allow a couple of hours to explore.

A guided day trip with hotel pickup saves you from driving and parking, which makes the day much simpler.

Dubai City Tour: Top Sights in One Day

If it is your first visit, a city tour is the easiest way to get your bearings. Typical routes cover a mix of old and new Dubai:

  • Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall area
  • Jumeirah Beach and the waterfront
  • Dubai Frame
  • Old Dubai, including the traditional souks around the Creek

Winter is the best season for this kind of sightseeing, since you can spend time outdoors without the summer heat. Wear comfortable shoes, carry water, and book any tower observation tickets ahead of time if they matter to you, as sunset slots are popular.

Musandam Cruise: A Sea Escape from Dubai

Musandam is a peninsula in Oman, often called the “Norway of Arabia” for its rocky cliffs and deep inlets. It is a popular day trip from Dubai for anyone who wants a change from the city. A cruise here usually means calm waters, dramatic scenery and the chance to spot dolphins, though sightings are never guaranteed.

Because the trip crosses into Oman, carry your passport and check the entry requirements for your nationality before you travel. Bring sun protection even in winter, as the sea light is strong, and wear layers for the boat.

Celebrate New Year with Fireworks at Marina and JBR

Dubai is famous for New Year’s Eve, and the Marina and JBR waterfront is one of the liveliest places to welcome the new year. Towers, yachts and beachfront promenades make a spectacular backdrop for the fireworks.

Crowds are large and roads can be busy on the night, so planning ahead is important. Our New Year Fire Work at Marina JBR 2026 experience is available from AED 889, and the tour page has the full details. Whatever you choose, book early, as New Year options sell out first.

A few New Year tips:

  • Arrive early, because roads near the waterfront can close or slow down.
  • Plan your journey back to the hotel in advance.
  • Keep your phone charged and agree on a meeting point if you are in a group.

If you are spending the end of the year in the city, the new year fireworks at Dubai Marina and JBR are one of the most popular ways to welcome 2026. The waterfront has a skyline of tall towers, a long promenade and plenty of restaurants, so it works well for couples, families and groups of friends. This guide covers what the night is usually like, how to plan around the crowds, and how our own New Year experience fits in.

Why Dubai Marina and JBR are popular for New Year’s Eve

Dubai Marina is a man-made waterfront district lined with high-rise towers and a walkway along the water. Next to it, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) has a beachfront promenade, cafes and shops. Together they make one of the most lively and walkable areas in Dubai.

Visitors like the area for a few reasons:

  • Open views: the water and the beachfront give you a wide view of the sky.
  • Atmosphere: the promenade is busy and festive on a holiday evening.
  • Food and drink choices: many restaurants and cafes are within walking distance of each other.
  • Easy to combine with a beach day: if you are staying nearby, you can enjoy the area before the evening begins.

New Year fireworks Dubai Marina JBR: what to expect on the night

Expect a busy, cheerful crowd that builds through the evening. Residents and visitors of many nationalities gather along the promenade and waterfront, so the mood is relaxed and international. Families, groups and couples all share the same space.

Fireworks are traditionally set off at midnight, and the build-up can include music and activity around the waterfront. Exact programmes, viewing areas and entry arrangements are usually announced by organisers and venues close to the date and can change from year to year. Check official announcements and your hotel or restaurant before you finalise plans.

Be ready for some patience. With so many people in one area, moving around can be slow, and the best viewing spots fill early.

How to plan your evening: arrival, crowds and getting around

The biggest challenge on New Year’s Eve is not the show itself but getting to it and home again. A little planning makes the night far more enjoyable.

Arrive early

Aim to be in the area well before midnight. Roads near popular viewing areas in Dubai are often busy on New Year’s Eve, and some may be restricted. Arriving early gives you time to eat, walk along the water and find a comfortable spot.

Expect traffic and limited parking

If you plan to drive yourself, remember that parking can be hard to find and leaving can take a long time once the show ends. Taxis and ride-hailing services also tend to be in high demand straight after midnight, so waiting times can be long.

Agree a meeting point

In a large crowd, mobile signals can be slow and it is easy to lose people. If you are with family or friends, choose a clear meeting point in advance, and make sure children know who to stay with and what to do if separated.

Keep your plans flexible

Have a backup in mind in case your first viewing spot is full. Walking a short distance along the promenade often gives you a good alternative.

Hotel pickup and drop-off from Dubai: what to know

One of the simplest ways to avoid the traffic and parking stress is to have transport arranged for you. Luxe Dunes offers hotel pickup and drop-off from all locations in Dubai, so you do not need to work out routes or find a taxi in the crowds afterwards.

To make pickup go smoothly:

  • Give us your hotel name or address accurately when you book.
  • Be ready at the lobby a little before your confirmed pickup time.
  • Keep your phone on and WhatsApp available in case our team needs to reach you.

Exact pickup and return times for the New Year experience are shown on the tour page and confirmed when you book.

What to wear and bring on the night

Dubai winters are generally pleasant, but evenings near the water can feel cooler, especially with a sea breeze. You will probably be standing or walking for a good part of the evening, so comfort matters more than anything else.

  • Comfortable shoes: you may walk a fair distance along the promenade.
  • A light jacket or layer: useful once the sun has set and you are by the water.
  • Smart casual clothing: fine for restaurants and the promenade. Dress respectfully, as you will be in a public, family-friendly area.
  • A charged phone and a power bank: for photos, messages and meeting up with your group.
  • Your ID or a copy of your passport details: good practice for any visitor.
  • A small bag: a large bag is awkward in a crowd, and entry rules at some venues may limit what you can carry.

If you want good photos, a phone with some free storage and a steady hand are enough. Fireworks are best captured when you are not rushed, so pick your spot early.

What a desert safari day looks like

If you are wondering what to wear on a desert safari in Dubai, it helps to picture the whole evening first. You are outdoors for several hours, moving between a vehicle, soft sand, a camp and a dinner area, so comfort matters more than style.

On our Dubai desert safari, hotel pickup is usually around 2:30 to 3:30 PM, and you are back at your hotel at about 9:30 PM. The experience lasts about 6 hours. You head out to the red dunes for dune bashing, then enjoy a camel ride, sandboarding, a BBQ dinner and live shows.

That means you start in afternoon light, watch the sun go down, and finish in the evening. Your outfit needs to work for all of it.

The best outfit for dune bashing, camel rides and sandboarding

Think light, loose and easy to move in. You will be getting in and out of a 4×4, climbing onto a camel and walking up sand dunes.

  • Breathable fabrics: cotton or linen-style tops and trousers keep you comfortable in the heat and are easy to wash afterwards.
  • Loose trousers, long shorts or a long skirt: you need room to swing your leg over a camel saddle. Very short or tight clothing is not practical.
  • Light colours: they feel cooler in the afternoon sun, though sand can show on them. Mid-tone colours hide dust well.
  • A sun hat or cap: useful before sunset. Choose one that fits snugly, because dune bashing can be breezy.
  • Sunglasses: they help with the glare and with blowing sand.

Avoid anything you would be upset to get dusty. Sand gets everywhere, so leave delicate or expensive clothing at the hotel.

Think about the evening, too

Once the sun goes down, the desert can feel cooler than the city, especially in the cooler months. A light layer, such as a thin cardigan, shawl or light jacket, is easy to carry and handy to have.

Shoes: what to wear and what to leave at the hotel

Shoes are the part people most often get wrong. Sand will end up in whatever you wear, so choose footwear that is easy to take off and shake out.

Good choices

  • Comfortable sandals with a back strap
  • Flat trainers or sneakers with breathable material
  • Slip-on shoes that you can remove quickly for sandboarding or on the sand

Leave at the hotel

  • High heels and wedges, which sink into the sand and are hard to walk in
  • Loose flip-flops that can slide off while you climb dunes
  • Expensive or brand-new shoes you want to keep clean

Many guests go barefoot on the dunes, which can feel great, but bring shoes for walking around camp.

What to wear for the BBQ dinner and live shows

The evening part of the safari is relaxed. You do not need to dress up. Your dune outfit is perfectly fine for the BBQ dinner and the live shows, and most guests simply stay in what they wore all afternoon.

If you want to freshen up, add one simple extra:

  • A light scarf or shawl for the evening air
  • A clean, light top in your bag if you want to change
  • Comfortable shoes you can wear on the sand around the camp

Since you will be seated, eating and watching the shows for a while, choose clothes that feel good when you are sitting on low seating or cushions.

What to wear on a desert safari in Dubai: outfit ideas for women, men and children

Women

A lightweight maxi skirt or loose trousers with a breathable T-shirt or tunic is a reliable combination. Leggings also work well, as long as they are not too thick. Dubai is a modern, international city, but it is also a good idea to dress modestly in public places. Covering your shoulders and knees is a safe, comfortable choice, and it also protects you from the sun. Tie long hair back, since wind can whip it around in the dunes.

Men

Light trousers or knee-length shorts, a cotton T-shirt and comfortable trainers or sandals will do the job. A cap helps in the afternoon. A thin long-sleeved shirt can be useful for the cooler evening.

Children

Dress children in light, loose clothes they can run around in, plus a hat and closed shoes or secure sandals. Bring an extra top in case they get sandy or want a warmer layer later. Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the safari, so keep them close and make sure they are comfortable before you set off.

A note for expectant mothers

The desert safari is not recommended for pregnant women, because dune bashing involves bumpy driving. If this applies to you, a city tour may be a more comfortable choice.

What to bring in your bag

Keep your bag small and light, since you will carry it between the vehicle and the camp. These items are worth packing:

  • Sunscreen, applied before pickup
  • Sunglasses and a hat or cap
  • A light scarf, shawl or jacket for the evening
  • A phone with a full battery, or a power bank
  • A scarf or bandana to cover your nose and mouth if the sand is blowing
  • Wet wipes or tissues
  • A small amount of cash for personal extras, if you like
  • A spare top for changing after the dunes

Keep valuables to a minimum. Leave passports and anything precious in your hotel safe unless you need them.

Adding a quad bike: what to wear and how to book in advance

A quad bike (ATV) is not included in the standard safari. It can be added for an extra cost, and you need to arrange it in advance, so do not wait until the afternoon of your tour. If quad biking is on your wish list, you can message us before you travel or look at our Premium Safari with Quad Bike, which starts from AED 275.

Quad biking is dustier and more physical than being a passenger, so dress for it:

  • Closed shoes: trainers are better than sandals, because your feet are close to the ground.
  • Long trousers: they protect your legs from dust and sun.
  • A scarf or bandana: it covers your face when sand is flying.
  • Sunglasses or glasses: they protect your eyes from sand and glare.
  • Fitted clothing: avoid long, loose scarves, dangling jewellery or flowing fabric that could catch on the controls.

Always follow the instructions of the guides on the dunes.
